The plan is Gromit...

Plan 1

The original plan was 'sell up and sail' a la Annie Hills. The Skipper want's to 'drop out' and escape the ret race. i.e. nanny state, hoodies, mileage tax, inheritance tax, call centres, badly made cheap imports, recorded phone messages, Tony Blair, rip-off Britain - I think you get the message. Olly just wanted to escape the washing up - big mistake there then! Just a thought - "when will Tony start to tax washing up so I've a good excuse not to do it?"

So putting plan 1 into action we decided to check we could do the 'sail' bit so started with a 'shake down' cruise during Summer 2006. This took Galatea from South West Scotland via the Isle of Man, Irland, the Scilly Isles, Falmouth, Brittany, accross Biscay to Northern Spain, down the coast of Portugal finishing up on the Portuguese/Spanish border for the Winter. 'The Boys' joined the crew for the Biscay crossing and a great time was had by all (especially Dave B who threw up all the way accross) - but it proved we could do it.

Having achieved stage one we decided to go for stage two 'sell up'.

This part taxed the capacity of eBay and resulted in the Skipper buying more than we sold but we are on target to leave next week so we needed a new plan.

Plan 2

New plan - spend Summer 2007 exploring the (cheaper bits of the) Med...

...maybe the plan needs a bit more work?
